Law Enforcement Protocol
Last updated: August 20, 2026
This page explains how Zimbo Connect, the company behind ZimboConnect, handles requests from law enforcement and government authorities for information about our users. It is intended for law enforcement agencies, not for members seeking support — if you need help with your account or want to report another user, see our Acceptable Use Policy or email support@zimboconnect.com.
Who we are
Zimbo Connect Ltd (company number 17405129) is a company registered with Companies House in England and Wales, operating the ZimboConnect platform. We comply with all lawful requests from UK law enforcement authorities, made through the appropriate legal channels described below.
Legal requests
We will respond to valid court orders, warrants, and other legal process issued by a competent UK court or authority, compelling us to disclose user information. We review every request to confirm it is legally valid and properly scoped before responding, and we may seek to narrow requests that are broader than necessary.
Emergency requests
Where a request involves a good-faith belief that there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm to a person, we may voluntarily disclose relevant information to law enforcement without requiring formal legal process, consistent with applicable law. Please clearly mark such requests as emergencies and explain the nature of the emergency.
Data preservation
On receipt of a formal preservation request, we can preserve the relevant account data for up to 90 days while the requesting agency obtains the appropriate legal process. Preservation requests do not themselves disclose any data to the requesting agency — they only pause our routine deletion of the specified account’s data.
How to submit a request
Law enforcement agencies should submit requests to support@zimboconnect.com. To help us process your request quickly, please include:
- Official identification of the requesting agency and officer.
- A case or reference number for the underlying investigation.
- The specific account(s), content, or information being requested.
- The legal basis for the request (e.g. the relevant court order or warrant).
Notifying affected users
Except where prohibited by law or by an order of a court or authority — for example, an order under a non-disclosure or gagging provision — we will notify the affected user that their information has been requested before we disclose it.
Requests from outside the UK
As a UK company, we require requests originating from outside the UK to be submitted through the appropriate mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) channel, or an equivalent internationally recognised legal process, rather than directly to us.
Changes to this protocol
We may update this protocol from time to time, for example to reflect a change in the law or in our internal process. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
