What's the one thing you miss most about home? 💛
By the ZimboConnect team
Saturday 10 October is World Mental Health Day, and this year's theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change." So here's a gentle one for the weekend.
Life abroad gives us a lot: work, study, new chances. It also takes some things away. Sometimes it's the big things, like family. Sometimes it's very small: the smell of rain on hot ground, kombi music, a proper Sunday lunch, mazhanje season, being called by your full name by someone who has known you since you were born.
For me it's noise. I miss my neighbours noise. I miss the lazy weekends
No answer is too small here. Saying it out loud and hearing "me too" from someone in Leeds, Dublin or Perth can make the distance feel shorter.
💚 If home-sickness is feeling heavier than usual, please talk to someone. In the UK and Ireland, Samaritans are on 116 123, day or night.
